What is the difference between Silestone, Caesarstone, & other quartz brands?
There are a number of different quartz brands on the market today - Silestone, Caesarstone, Zodiaq, LG Viatera, Cambria, & HanStone to name just the most common. What are the differences between all these brands?
Essentially, there isn’t much of one. All “Breton Process” quartz products (all of the above listed products as well as smattering of other “minor players”) are manufactured using patented technology called the Breton Process and thus all are manufactured in the same way with the exact same composition – 93% quartz & 7% resin and pigments. They therefore all share the same performance qualities. The only areas where differences arise are in each range’s

- Distribution / Local Availability
- Warranty
Silestone, Caesarstone, Zodiaq, LG Viatera & Cambria are all distributed locally (metro Phoenix / Tempe / Scottsdale/ etc) with the exception of HanStone which is shipped out of LA. The color selection & price varies by brand. As far as warranty, most have a 10 year product only warranty while LG Viatera has a 15 year product & installation warranty. All warranties are voided by “abuse.”
Silestone is the only quartz brand that has one major difference in it’s composition – the addition of MicroBan technology. Silestone is also the only countertop with antimicrobial protection included in every slab. Antimicrobial product protection is built-in during manufacturing to provide continuous antimicrobial product protection. While antimicrobial product protection does not protect users from food-borne illness and is not a substitute for normal cleaning practices, it does result in countertops that are easier to clean and stay clean.
